TEN #PEAKWELLNESS BATHROOM UPGRADES
Making your bathroom feel like a FANCY hotel spa is one of life’s simplest pleasures. We’ve compiled a list of a just few of the many different ways you can transform your space into the ultimate wellbeing haven.
The simplest, most aesthetic and arguably one of the most cost-effective things you can do for you bathroom is to head out to your local florist and purchase a bunch of eucalyptus stems. Using a hairband, tie the bunch around your shower head and allow the warm water to activate the oils in the leaves. It's an ideal ritual for both mornings and/or evenings, as the fragrance is both refreshing and calming.
FLUFFY TOWELS + A BATHROBE
You're most likely aware of that post-shower feeling, sitting on your hotel room bed in that wonderfully fluffy towel? Recreate it at home, why the hell not. You deserve to feel as if you’re staying in the fanciest of boutique hotels every single day of your life. Invest in a super fluffy robe with matching towels and stack them high. We've listed our favourites below.
RED LIGHT BULBS
We could, and do, talk at length about the many calming benefits of red light and how important it is for optimal wellbeing to limit junk blue light. When we wake in the middle of the night, one of the worst things we can do for our circadian rhythm is to stumble into a brightly lit bathroom that lowers melatonin and excites the nervous system. Switch to red LED light bulbs to help you peacefully drift off again.
Who doesn’t love a candle, let's be honest, and really, you can’t have too many. We’ve brainstormed our favourites below to elevate your bathroom space, think about fun and cheerful jars as much as you would scent.
A QUALITY SHOWER MAT
You don’t realise how important a good quality shower mat is until you’ve gone without. Stepping out into a puddle of water and proceeding to make your way across the room to your towel, all whilst attempting not to slip is a struggle, to say the least. We love a cute, motivation mat to put a smile on our faces when we wake up.
We're mad for house plants. Whilst not only do they make great practice for your future children (kind of, not really) and completely transform a space, some also work to purifier the air. Great if you’re a little too generous with the hairspray.
Give Marie Condo a read (or just watch the Netflix show) and you’ll be instantly inspired to clean up the array of product and unnecessary crap that takes up your bathroom shelf space. Invest in some sexy containers and organisers for your cosmetics to make life a whole lot easier in the AM.
HEADBAND + NON-DENTING CLIPS
Nothing gets in the way of a 10-step skincare routine quite like a soggy fringe. Regardless of if you’re the wash and go type, or a complete skincare junkie, a quality headband and a couple of non-denting hair clips (avoiding creased hair is the least we can ask for) beside your sink will always prove themselves to be a handy bathroom staple.
A small stack of neatly folded microfiber towels not only up the fancy hotel spa–ness of your bathroom space, but they’re a great and underrated addition to your skincare routine. The fibres won’t pull on your skin the way that a standard rough towel or flannel can, minimalizing any chance of stress of pulling done to your gorgeous face.
As our skin is transdermal, it makes sense to target stress from both an internal and external perspective. Epsom salts poured into the bath create a glorious sense of calm and relaxation due to its magnesium content. Chuck them into a sleek glass container and they’ll fit right in amongst the rest of your #peakwellness buys.
CBD bath bombs up the game when it comes to your wind-down routine. Brands we’ve been reaching for include Green Stem and Vertly’s infused bath salts. Benefits of bathing in CBD include intense soothing of the nervous system and pain relief, ideal for those pesky PMS symptoms.
If your bath itself requires some TLC, then there are endless ways of upgrading your space so that you never want to leave it. Think iPad stands on the wall, a wooden bath shelf, a waterproof Kindle and a waterproof neck pillow.
